Liberia’s rugby future is tied to the wider growth of African rugby. West Africa has several countries where rugby is still developing, which creates a useful regional context. Liberia does not need to face major rugby powers immediately to improve. It needs regular matches, similar-level opponents, and organizers who can keep the sport active.
Rugby in Liberia will probably remain small, but it can become a serious niche sport if it builds around sevens, youth participation, and regional competition. Its strongest argument is opportunity: a different team sport with international connections and room for new athletes.
