Sevens is probably the most realistic rugby format for the Northwest Territories. It needs fewer players, can be played in shorter events, and works better when the season is limited. A weekend tournament may be more practical than a long league schedule.
The future of rugby here depends on simple sustainability: youth access, safe coaching, field time, and enough competition to keep players interested. Rugby may remain a niche sport in the Northwest Territories, but it can still serve athletes who want a demanding team game with a strong community feel.
